Top 5 Tips for Planning Your Wedding

1. Allow Plenty of Time for Planning!

Especially if you are not hiring a Full Service Wedding Planner it will take you a lot of time to just do research on venues and vendors. Then, you still have to schedule tours or consultations, decide which to choose, sign contracts and then you finally get to start working with them on your wedding! Remember, the average wedding will include at least 10 wedding professionals. The more time crunching you will have to do will cause you more stress!

Adding something you love to the mix of a centerpiece can be the perfect addition!

2. Limit Your DIY Projects

DIY projects can save you money, but they will eat up your TIME! A bride can spend countless hours on Pinterest alone just researching. If you love DIY, a recommendation would be to pick 2 or 3 ideas that you LOVE and go with them!! Another recommendation is to plan on completing your projects one month before your wedding. This will allow you to spend the last month relaxing and not slaving away.

3. Make Your Wedding Unique

How do you do that? By incorporating something specific that you and your fiancé love. For instance, if you like to travel instead of using table number, name your tables after places you have traveled. Include a couple of pictures of the two of you enjoying the trip on each table. Or maybe you both are not fans of cake, but LOVE PIE! Why not cut & serve PIE at your wedding.

4. Discuss with Both Families Your Wishes for Your Wedding & How They Can Help

Getting out in front of this will eliminate any problems down the road! Your well-meaning future mother-in-law will not get her feelings hurt, or will drive you crazy constantly asking to help! If she knows ahead of time how she can help she will feel better and you won’t feel pressured! Plus, dividing up the tasks will ease your work load.

5. Reduce or Eliminate Stress Surrounding Your Wedding

By following Tips 1, 2 & 4 you will reduce or eliminate a lot of stress! Another option is to hire a wedding planner. If a Full Service Planner isn’t in your budget or you enjoy the planning, that is OK! Hire a wedding coordinator to come in the last month before your wedding! They can help you create your event timeline, layout of ceremony and reception areas, work with your vendors on all the last minute little details, direct your rehearsal, set-up your décor, keep your event running smoothly! Best of all a coordinator will allow you, your fiancé, family and friends to all ENJOY your wedding!

  1. I found it helpful when you explained that it is a good idea to complete all of your projects a month prior to your wedding. My fiance and I want to start planning our wedding soon, and we need to find a venue that is within our budget and will be able to accommodate the number of people we plan on inviting. It seems like it would be a good idea for us to find a professional event planning service to work with.
